Job Description/Specification:


A leading maritime and shipyard organization in Ras Laffan, Qatar is seeking an experienced Marine Business Development Manager to lead business development initiatives, expand market share, strengthen client relationships, and identify new commercial opportunities across regional and international marine markets.

The role will be responsible for executing the marine business development strategy, developing new business lines, strengthening existing accounts, managing global agent relationships, and positioning the shipyard's capabilities effectively within target markets. The position will also provide strategic direction to estimation and marketing activities to support revenue growth and successful business acquisition.

Preference will be given to Qatari candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the marine business development strategy in line with business plans, revenue forecasts, and growth objectives.
  • Develop new business opportunities and expand existing marine service lines to increase market share.
  • Manage and strengthen relationships with global agents, local clients, specialist service providers, and OEMs.
  • Conduct local and international client visits to present shipyard capabilities and identify potential opportunities.
  • Represent the organization at marine exhibitions, conferences, and industry events.
  • Monitor regional and global marine market trends, competitor activities, and emerging business opportunities.
  • Develop and negotiate service agreements and strategic partnerships with clients and industry partners.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Estimation, and other departments to develop annual business plans, KPIs, and commercial strategies.
  • Ensure client requirements are clearly understood and effectively addressed.
  • Oversee estimation activities to ensure timely and competitive submission of bids and proposals.
  • Monitor bid performance, client feedback, and reasons for unsuccessful tenders to identify trends and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate client credibility and commercial risks to support sound business decisions.
  • Optimize estimation resources based on workload, project complexity, and team capabilities.
  • Prepare business intelligence, market analysis, client visit reports, and management updates.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to business development, marketing, and estimation teams.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Certificate of Competency – Marine Engineer Officer Class 1 (Motor Ship) or equivalent is required.
Experience
  • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in marine, shipyard, maritime, or related industries.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a managerial or leadership position.
  • Proven experience in marine business development, commercial management, estimation, sales, or shipyard operations.
  • Strong experience dealing with international clients, global agents, OEMs, and specialist marine service providers.
