Job Description/Specification:

A Reservations Agent is responsible for managing hotel bookings while providing accurate, professional assistance to guests. This full-time, non-management position in Doha is suitable for candidates who are confident communicators and interested in building a career in hotel reservations and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process new room reservations, amendments, and cancellations through available communication channels.
  • Understand guest requirements and recommend suitable room types based on availability.
  • Check room availability and applicable rates before confirming bookings.
  • Explain reservation guarantees, special rates, and cancellation policies clearly.
  • Record special requests and ensure relevant information is accurately documented.
  • Answer guest questions about hotel facilities, services, and room options.
  • Apply appropriate sales techniques to identify opportunities and support room revenue.
  • Enter and retrieve reservation information accurately within the hotel's booking system.
  • Apply correct codes and rates for special reservation categories.
  • Handle guest concerns professionally and follow the appropriate escalation process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • No previous related work experience is required.
  • No supervisory experience is required.
  • No professional license or certification is required.
  • Strong verbal communication and telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and colleagues.
  • Good attention to detail when entering reservation and rate information.
  • Professional appearance and conduct.
  • Ability to protect confidential guest and company information.
  • Willingness to follow established service, quality, safety, and security procedures.

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity can suit candidates looking to enter the hotel industry, particularly those interested in reservations, front office operations, or guest services.

Previous hospitality experience is not mandatory, so candidates from customer service, call center, travel, reception, or other guest-facing environments may have transferable skills. The ideal candidate should be patient, organized, comfortable speaking with customers, and able to learn reservation procedures quickly.

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

Accuracy is one of the most important skills for a Reservations Agent. Room availability, dates, rates, booking codes, and guest requests must be entered correctly to prevent avoidable problems.

Strong listening skills are equally important. Guests may have specific requirements, and the agent needs to understand those needs before recommending an appropriate room or rate.

Computer literacy, customer service, telephone communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and basic sales ability will all contribute to success in the role.

How to Stand Out

Even though previous experience is not required, your CV should demonstrate situations where you have dealt directly with customers.

Highlight experience handling telephone inquiries, reservations, customer complaints, booking systems, cash or payment information, or service-related requests.

If you are applying without hospitality experience, emphasize your communication skills, computer proficiency, attention to detail, reliability, and ability to learn new systems.

Interview Preparation

Candidates should prepare for practical customer-service scenarios such as:

  • How would you handle a guest requesting an unavailable room?
  • What would you do if a guest disagreed with a cancellation policy?
  • How would you handle several reservation requests at the same time?
  • How would you recommend a higher-value room without pressuring the guest?
  • What steps would you take after discovering an error in a reservation?

Strong answers should demonstrate patience, accuracy, clear communication, and a solution-focused approach.

Career Growth

A Reservations Agent role can provide valuable experience for progression into positions such as Senior Reservations Agent, Reservations Supervisor, Front Office Agent, Front Office Supervisor, or other hotel operations and revenue-related roles.
