Job Description/Specification:
Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) is the principal securities market in Qatar, providing local and international investors with access to a regulated capital market covering equities, ETFs, sukuk, bonds, and Treasury bills. QSE supports listed companies in raising capital, expanding their investor base, and contributing to Qatar’s financial sector development.
QSE is seeking a Business Development Specialist to support the CEO-reporting Business Development function by developing strategic topics that contribute to market growth, institutional priorities, and business development opportunities. The role involves structuring complex business questions, conducting research and analysis, developing recommendations, and preparing senior-level materials for strategic decision-making.
About This Role
The Business Development Specialist will manage assigned workstreams from initial problem definition through analysis, recommendation, and implementation planning. The role requires strong strategic thinking, research, analytical, stakeholder management, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex information into practical business recommendations.
The position will work closely with the Head of Business Development, guide the BD Analyst, coordinate inputs from internal departments, and ensure all Business Development outputs are accurate, fact-based, and suitable for senior management review.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Strategy
- Structure strategic and business development topics by defining key questions, assumptions, analytical approaches, and required outputs.
- Develop and test hypotheses to identify opportunities, challenges, and potential solutions.
- Translate analysis into practical recommendations, highlighting trade-offs, dependencies, risks, and required decisions.
- Support initiatives related to QSE growth, market development, strategic priorities, and institutional objectives.
Research & Market Analysis
- Design research approaches covering data sources, benchmark markets, industry information, and validation requirements.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis using internal and external information.
- Benchmark QSE's position against relevant markets, competitors, industry developments, and international best practices.
- Develop fact-based assessments and identify trends, opportunities, and areas requiring further investigation.
Senior Management Reporting
- Prepare senior-ready presentations, briefing notes, opportunity assessments, and strategic recommendations.
- Develop clear storylines connecting business issues, evidence, implications, recommendations, and next steps.
- Present complex findings in a concise and structured manner to senior stakeholders.
- Support the Head of BD and CEO with decision-making materials as required.
Stakeholder & Workstream Management
- Coordinate with QSE departments to collect and validate information and incorporate relevant business perspectives.
- Facilitate discussions and align cross-functional inputs into clear overall assessments.
- Track workstream actions, deadlines, dependencies, and decisions.
- Escalate delays, missing information, resource constraints, and prioritization conflicts to the Head of BD.
- Guide the BD Analyst by reviewing research, analysis, presentations, trackers, and other deliverables.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Strategy, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
Experience
- 5–7 years of relevant professional experience in a Big Four firm, professional services organization, multinational company, capital markets institution, financial services organization, or similar environment.
- Experience in strategy, business development, market research, business analysis, or related functions.
- Proven experience structuring business problems, developing hypotheses, conducting research, and converting findings into actionable recommendations.
- Experience coordinating complex workstreams and multiple stakeholders.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong strategic thinking and structured problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent research, analytical, and quantitative skills.
- Strong business writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to simplify complex information for senior management audiences.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to capital markets, stock exchanges, financial services, listed companies, investors, brokers, or financial market infrastructure.
- Experience in strategy consulting or professional services.
- Knowledge of financial markets and industry trends.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
