Job Description/Specification:


An experienced Offshore Drilling Operations Manager is required to oversee the operations of four offshore drilling and workover units. The role is responsible for monitoring drilling contractors, managing operational performance, and resolving drilling and intervention challenges in coordination with subordinate Superintendents.

The position plays a key role in ensuring drilling, workover, and intervention objectives are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with operational and HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of four offshore drilling and workover units.
  • Monitor drilling contractors and ensure operational performance meets established objectives and standards.
  • Coordinate with Offshore Drilling Superintendents to resolve operational issues and maintain continuity of operations.
  • Oversee drilling, workover, and well intervention activities with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure drilling and intervention objectives are achieved within approved operational requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance and take appropriate action when operational standards or expectations are not met.
  • Support tendering and contracting activities related to drilling and workover operations.
  • Provide effective leadership to offshore teams while maintaining awareness of cultural differences and workforce requirements.
  • Promote a strong HSE culture across drilling and workover operations.
  • Apply sound operational judgment when addressing complex or time-sensitive drilling challenges.
  • Maintain clear communication with subordinate Superintendents, contractors, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement and high operational performance across the offshore drilling fleet.

Required Experience and Skills

Candidates should have:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in offshore drilling and workover operations.
  • At least 5 years of experience as an Offshore Drilling Supervisor.
  • At least 5 years of experience as an Offshore Drilling Superintendent.
  • Proven experience managing offshore drilling, workover, and intervention operations.
  • Strong experience in drilling contractor oversight and operational performance management.
  • Experience in tendering and contracting activities.
  • Proven leadership and people management capabilities.
  • Strong awareness of cultural sensitivities when managing diverse offshore teams.
  • A strong commitment to HSE and safe operational practices.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
  • A proven track record of delivering strong performance in drilling and workover operations.
  • A practical, solutions-oriented “can-do” attitude.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Valid IWCF certification is required.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a senior offshore drilling professional with extensive experience managing drilling and workover operations at a supervisory and superintendent level. Strong contractor management, leadership, HSE awareness, and operational decision-making skills are essential.

Candidates should be comfortable managing multiple offshore units, addressing operational challenges, and coordinating teams and contractors to deliver safe and efficient drilling and intervention activities.
