Job Description/Specification:
An NDT Inspector is required to perform independent visual inspection and non-destructive testing activities in the Crude Area, working under the direction of the Plant Inspector. The role involves carrying out inspection activities in accordance with approved procedures, industry standards, and company requirements while supporting the safe and reliable operation of refinery and petrochemical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspections and NDT activities as instructed by the Plant Inspector.
- Conduct inspection work during routine operations and planned shutdown activities.
- Carry out non-destructive testing using approved inspection methods and procedures.
- Ensure inspection activities are performed accurately and in accordance with applicable international and company standards.
- Record inspection findings and maintain accurate technical documentation.
- Prepare technical reports based on inspection results and applicable codes and standards.
- Support Plant Inspection teams during shutdown and maintenance activities.
- Identify and report inspection findings, defects, or abnormalities requiring further assessment.
- Maintain professional standards while working in operational refinery and petrochemical environments.
- Follow all applicable safety, quality, and inspection procedures during field activities.
Required Experience and Skills
Candidates should have:
- At least 5 years of experience in in-service inspection and shutdown inspection within the oil refining or petrochemical industry.
- Some supervisory experience and the ability to take responsibility for inspection activities.
- PCN, CSWIP, or ACCP (ASNT Central Certification Program) Level II certification in relevant NDT methods, including UT, PT, MT, and RT.
- RTFI, API, or AWS certification is an added advantage.
- Ability to prepare and compile technical reports with reference to international and company codes.
- Good written and spoken English communication skills.
- Good computer literacy and the ability to maintain inspection records and documentation.
- Strong understanding of inspection practices and the requirements of industrial operating environments.
Educational Qualifications
- Senior Secondary School qualification.
- Diploma, HND, or equivalent technical qualification.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have practical experience in refinery or petrochemical inspection environments, with strong technical knowledge of NDT methods and inspection procedures. The ability to interpret applicable codes, document findings accurately, and work effectively with Plant Inspection and maintenance teams will be important for success in this position.
Experience gained during shutdowns and in-service inspection activities will be particularly relevant, especially for candidates who hold recognized Level II NDT certifications across multiple inspection methods.
