Job Description/Specification:
IKEA Qatar, part of the Al-Futtaim Group, is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Visual Merchandiser to create inspiring retail environments that bring the IKEA brand to life. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining visual merchandising standards throughout the store while ensuring every display reflects the IKEA concept and enhances the customer shopping experience.
This role is ideal for professionals with experience in visual merchandising, interior design, or architecture who are passionate about retail design, home furnishing solutions, and customer engagement.
About This Role
As a Visual Merchandiser, you will design and execute attractive in-store displays that inspire customers and maximize commercial performance. Working closely with Interior Designers, Sales, and In-Store Logistics teams, you will ensure visual standards align with IKEA's global guidelines while supporting seasonal campaigns, promotions, and the commercial calendar.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Merchandising
- Plan and execute visual displays for accessory shops, shop windows, activity podiums, perimeter breaks, self-serve areas, Swedish Food Market, and Exit Café.
- Ensure all store displays comply with IKEA visual merchandising standards and brand guidelines.
- Create functional, attractive, and inspiring home furnishing solutions.
- Maintain consistency in visual presentation across all store departments.
Store Presentation & Design
- Collaborate with the Interior Designer to develop engaging retail displays.
- Design room settings and merchandising solutions that inspire customers.
- Ensure displays effectively showcase IKEA products and maximize customer interaction.
- Maintain high-quality visual standards throughout the store.
Commercial Support
- Support the planning and execution of the store's commercial calendar.
- Assist with seasonal campaigns, promotions, and new product launches.
- Coordinate display updates based on current commercial activities.
- Implement daily sales steering initiatives using IKEA merchandising concepts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales and In-Store Logistics teams to deliver merchandising projects efficiently.
- Coordinate project implementation while minimizing disruption to store operations.
- Support cross-functional teams in maintaining store presentation standards.
Compliance & Sustainability
- Ensure all visual displays are safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible.
- Follow IKEA manuals, operational procedures, and local regulations.
- Maintain awareness of local home furnishing trends and customer preferences.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in:
- Visual Merchandising
- Interior Design
- Retail Display Planning
- Experience creating retail or home furnishing display concepts.
- Strong understanding of customer-focused retail environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in furniture, home décor, lifestyle, or large-format retail stores.
- Knowledge of IKEA concepts and merchandising standards.
- Experience working in fast-paced retail environments.
- Understanding of local home furnishing market trends.
