Business Intelligence Analyst Job Overview
The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing business intelligence reports and dashboards covering areas such as retail, stores, vendors, inventory, warehouses, promotions, and overall business performance.
A major part of the position involves working with Microsoft Power BI and supporting the transition from AX Dynamic (R3 Reporting) to the new BI reporting structure. The successful candidate will work closely with IT teams and business stakeholders to ensure reporting remains accurate, relevant, and aligned with operational requirements.
The position also requires regular analysis of sales trends, customer behavior, promotional performance, and key business indicators to identify opportunities and potential areas of concern.
Key Responsibilities
The Business Intelligence Analyst will:
- Develop, generate, and analyze daily, weekly, monthly, and annual Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Evaluate KPIs against budgets, historical performance, passenger traffic, inventory results, and other relevant business factors.
- Work with category managers, operational teams, marketing teams, and other business users to understand reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with IT on reporting development and improvements to ensure alignment with the organization's BI framework.
- Perform gap analysis and root-cause analysis to understand changes in sales performance and business trends.
- Analyze consumer behavior, customer profiles, market trends, store performance, brand performance, and profitability.
- Evaluate marketing and promotional campaigns against targets and relevant KPIs.
- Identify important findings and provide recommendations to management for business improvement.
- Troubleshoot Power BI reporting issues in coordination with technical teams.
- Support the maintenance of central databases and business information sources.
- Provide historical data and analysis to support business planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
Requirements for the Role
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification and at least three years of relevant work experience.
Experience in Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Information Systems (BIS), or business intelligence is valuable for this position. Candidates should also be familiar with BI and reporting tools, particularly Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft reporting solutions.
The role requires strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities, particularly the ability to examine performance trends, identify root causes, and convert findings into useful business recommendations.
Strong communication and presentation skills are also important because the analyst will work with different business owners and end users and may need to explain analytical findings to management and operational teams.
