Job Description/Specification:

Banana Island Resort Doha By Anantara is seeking a Recreation Attendant to support guests using the resort’s pool, wellness, and recreation facilities. The role combines hands-on facility support with personalised guest service and is well suited to hospitality professionals who enjoy working in an active luxury resort environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist guests using the resort’s recreation and pool facilities.
  • Provide towels, chaise lounge covers, cabana setups, and other guest amenities.
  • Keep pool deck areas clean by regularly removing used towels, debris, and other items.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming pool environment throughout the day.
  • Provide attentive and personalised service to guests in a luxury hospitality setting.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of recreation facilities, wellness services, activities, and hotel amenities.
  • Promote available recreation and wellness services to guests and identify suitable opportunities for additional sales.
  • Complete opening and closing duties and prepare recreation areas according to established standards.
  • Follow hotel fire, life-safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain professional grooming, personal hygiene, and service standards at all times.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience as a Recreation Attendant or in a similar hospitality role.
  • Strong customer service and guest interaction skills.
  • Basic knowledge of recreational equipment and facilities.
  • Basic understanding of first aid and emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced resort environment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
  • Good personal presentation and awareness of hygiene standards.
  • Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Ability to remain attentive and courteous during busy periods.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

  • Work in a luxury resort environment with direct guest interaction.
  • Gain experience across recreation, wellness, and resort operations.
  • Develop guest-service and hospitality skills in a premium setting.
  • Build experience in promoting recreation services and supporting departmental revenue.
  • Work alongside different hotel departments and gain broader operational exposure.

Who Should Apply?

This role is ideal for hospitality professionals who enjoy active, guest-facing work rather than a traditional desk-based position. Candidates with recreation, pool, resort, leisure, or hotel experience can be a good fit.

You should be comfortable spending much of the working day in recreation areas, interacting with guests, maintaining facilities, and responding quickly to requests. A friendly personality, professional attitude, and willingness to stay active are important for success.

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

Guest service is the most important skill in this position. You should be able to communicate politely, recognise guest needs, and provide assistance without waiting to be asked.

Organisation is also important because pool and recreation areas require continuous attention. Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures can help you respond appropriately when situations arise.

Sales awareness is another useful skill. The ability to explain recreation and wellness services naturally can help improve the guest experience while supporting departmental revenue.

How to Stand Out

Make your CV specific to recreation and hospitality rather than using generic customer-service statements. Highlight experience with pools, resorts, wellness facilities, guest amenities, recreation equipment, or similar environments.

If you have experience handling busy pool areas, supporting VIP guests, promoting recreational services, or maintaining high cleanliness and safety standards, make those responsibilities clear.

First-aid knowledge and experience with emergency procedures should also be mentioned prominently if applicable.

Interview Preparation

Prepare for questions about how you would handle a busy pool area, respond to a guest request, or deal with an unhappy guest.

You may also be asked how you would maintain cleanliness while continuing to provide attentive service. Be ready to explain how you would respond to a safety concern or emergency situation and how you would recommend a recreation service without being overly pushy.

Use practical examples from previous hospitality or recreation experience wherever possible.

Career Growth

Experience as a Recreation Attendant can provide a pathway toward roles such as Recreation Supervisor, Wellness or Leisure Coordinator, Recreation Manager, or broader resort operations positions. Additional experience in guest relations and hospitality can also support progression into other hotel departments.
