Job Description/Specification:

An Employee Relations Specialist role is focused on handling sensitive workplace matters fairly, consistently, and in line with company policies and governance requirements. This Doha-based opportunity is suited to experienced HR professionals with strong investigation, analytical, reporting, and case-management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review employee relations cases involving workplace concerns, alleged policy breaches, misconduct, and procedural issues.
  • Assess the urgency, sensitivity, and potential organisational risk associated with individual cases.
  • Establish relevant facts by identifying stakeholders, reviewing records, and defining the appropriate scope of each review.
  • Conduct impartial internal reviews while maintaining confidentiality and procedural fairness.
  • Gather and analyse information from interviews, statements, documents, records, and other relevant sources.
  • Interview employees and other stakeholders and accurately document the information provided.
  • Evaluate complex information, identify inconsistencies, and develop evidence-based conclusions.
  • Prepare structured reports outlining findings, supporting evidence, limitations, and recommendations.
  • Provide practical recommendations designed to reduce risk and address identified workplace issues.
  • Identify recurring employee relations trends and advise management on opportunities to strengthen workplace practices and policy compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Employee Relations, HR investigations, or case management.
  • Strong understanding of employee relations processes, HR policies, workplace governance, and procedural fairness.
  • Experience handling confidential and complex employee matters.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking capabilities.
  • Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining an objective and impartial approach.
  • International Employee Relations or multi-jurisdictional experience is highly beneficial.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

  • Work on complex employee relations matters within a large, international organisation.
  • Gain exposure to workplace investigations, governance, risk assessment, and organisational issues.
  • Develop experience advising management on sensitive people-related matters.
  • Build expertise in evidence-based decision-making and structured case management.
  • Work in an environment where confidentiality, fairness, and professional judgment are central to the role.

Who Should Apply?

This position is best suited to experienced Employee Relations professionals who are comfortable dealing with sensitive workplace situations and making objective assessments based on evidence.

Candidates with backgrounds in HR investigations, employee relations, disciplinary case management, workplace governance, or HR compliance should find the role particularly relevant. The position requires someone who can remain impartial under pressure, communicate difficult findings professionally, and handle confidential information responsibly.

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

Strong investigation skills are central to the position. You should be comfortable gathering evidence, conducting interviews, identifying inconsistencies, and separating facts from assumptions.

Report writing is equally important because findings and recommendations must be presented clearly for management review. Good judgment, discretion, organisation, and critical thinking will help when dealing with cases involving competing accounts or incomplete information.

Experience with HR case-management systems, investigation frameworks, employee policies, and multi-jurisdictional employment environments can provide an additional advantage.

How to Stand Out

Your CV should demonstrate specific experience rather than simply stating that you have worked in Employee Relations. Highlight the types of cases you have handled, your involvement in investigations, and your responsibility for preparing findings or recommendations.

Where appropriate, include measurable examples such as case volumes managed, turnaround improvements, policy-compliance initiatives, or successful process improvements. Also highlight experience working with senior management, legal teams, HR leadership, or multiple business units.

Emphasise your ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality when dealing with complex or sensitive matters.

Interview Preparation

Expect scenario-based questions about employee investigations, confidentiality, conflicting evidence, and workplace misconduct.

You may be asked how you would approach an allegation involving multiple employees, what steps you would take before reaching a conclusion, or how you would handle evidence that contradicts an initial complaint.

Prepare examples demonstrating your judgment, analytical ability, report-writing skills, and ability to remain neutral when dealing with difficult workplace situations.

Career Growth

Experience in Employee Relations can lead to broader HR career paths including Senior Employee Relations Specialist, Employee Relations Manager, HR Business Partner, HR Investigations Manager, or wider HR governance and compliance leadership roles.
