Job Description/Specification:
Qatar Airways Cargo is seeking a safety-conscious and reliable Tractor Driver to support cargo handling operations at Hamad International Airport. The successful candidate will ensure the efficient movement of freight across the cargo terminal and airside locations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and operational excellence.
About This Role
As a Tractor Driver, you will play a vital role in supporting cargo operations by transporting shipments, operating Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and ensuring special cargo is handled according to international aviation standards. You will work in a fast-paced airport environment where safety, accuracy, and teamwork are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Cargo Transportation
- Collect and transport cargo safely between cargo terminals and airside locations.
- Handle shipments according to operational schedules and flight requirements.
- Ensure special cargo, including Dangerous Goods (DG), Valuable Cargo (VAL), Perishable Cargo (PER), Courier (COU), Live Animals (AVI), and Mail, is transported following company procedures.
Vehicle & Equipment Operations
- Operate tractors, forklifts, transport lifters, and light vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections and report equipment defects or maintenance requirements.
- Ensure all Ground Support Equipment (GSE) is operated in compliance with safety regulations.
Cargo Handling & Safety
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cargo movement and handling.
- Maintain accurate freight location records to support timely flight loading.
- Prevent cargo damage, mishandling, incidents, and accidents through safe working practices.
- Support the handling of temperature-sensitive cargo, including pharmaceutical and perishable products.
Compliance & Operational Support
- Comply with airport security regulations and health and safety policies.
- Participate in mandatory operational and safety training programs.
- Perform additional operational duties assigned by the department management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Airport Vehicle Operation Permit (AVOP) or Home Country Light Vehicle Driving License.
- Ability to obtain a Qatari Light Vehicle Driving License.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
