Job Description/Specification:
Marriott Executive Apartments is seeking a skilled Engineering Technician II to perform preventive and corrective maintenance across hotel facilities, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, and building systems operate efficiently. The successful candidate will respond to guest maintenance requests, troubleshoot equipment, perform repairs, and help maintain the highest standards of safety, reliability, and guest comfort.
About This Role
As an Engineering Technician II, you will be responsible for maintaining hotel facilities, guestrooms, and engineering systems while supporting daily engineering operations. Working with minimal supervision, you will diagnose maintenance issues, perform repairs, coordinate preventive maintenance activities, and mentor junior engineering staff to ensure smooth hotel operations.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and resolve engineering issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, tools, and equipment.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment.
- Replace or repair pumps, motors, switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, and guestroom equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance including painting, drywall repairs, carpentry, and filter replacement.
- Maintain engineering inventory and request spare parts when required.
Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP)
- Perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel MEP systems.
- Maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Repair PVC and copper piping, including soldering where required.
- Service plumbing systems, drains, toilets, pumps, and water supply equipment.
- Perform electrical repairs and maintenance on hotel facilities and guest rooms.
- Support energy management and building automation systems.
Engineering Operations
- Conduct daily equipment inspections, readings, and engineering rounds.
- Operate shut-off valves and follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.
- Utilize engineering maintenance software for preventive maintenance scheduling and reporting.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and shift handover reports.
- Ensure engineering equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Team Support
- Train and mentor junior engineering technicians.
- Support Engineer-on-Duty responsibilities when assigned.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with other departments to minimize guest disruption.
- Promote teamwork and maintain effective communication across engineering operations.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow Marriott safety policies, engineering procedures, and environmental standards.
- Report hazards, maintenance issues, accidents, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Store hazardous materials safely and maintain compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain a professional appearance while delivering exceptional guest service.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, G.E.D., or Technical/Vocational Qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Refrigeration, or Building Maintenance.
- Minimum 2 years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience.
- Experience in general building maintenance, painting, and repair works.
- Valid Driver's License.
Required Certifications
- Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification (Mandatory).
- Any applicable local or national engineering licenses or certifications required by law.
