Job Description/Specification:
The Ritz-Carlton Doha is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join its Engineering & Facilities team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining hotel facilities, responding to guest maintenance requests, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all engineering systems operate safely and efficiently. This role requires hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance while delivering exceptional guest service in a luxury hospitality environment.
About This Role
As a Maintenance Technician, you will support the daily operation of the hotel's engineering department by inspecting, repairing, and maintaining guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities. You will troubleshoot technical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with Marriott's quality, health, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, kitchen equipment, mechanical rooms, and building facilities.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry-related issues.
- Replace lighting fixtures, electrical switches, outlets, air conditioning filters, and other guest room components.
- Carry out minor painting, drywall repairs, woodwork, and finishing tasks.
- Program televisions and maintain guest room equipment.
Engineering Operations
- Inspect tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Operate utility shut-off valves and building systems when required.
- Maintain engineering inventory and request replacement parts and supplies.
- Complete daily maintenance reports and communicate outstanding issues during shift handovers.
- Perform repairs to irrigation systems and landscaping equipment where required.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before carrying out maintenance work.
- Comply with Marriott safety, fire, and environmental policies.
- Report maintenance hazards, accidents, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Store tools, equipment, and hazardous materials safely.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Guest Service
- Deliver professional and courteous service to guests at all times.
- Communicate clearly with guests regarding maintenance issues and resolutions.
- Support guests with special needs while ensuring a positive hospitality experience.
- Work collaboratively with all hotel departments to maintain exceptional service standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Technical Certificate, GED, or Vocational Qualification preferred.
- Valid Driving License is required.
- Experience in hotel engineering or facility maintenance is an advantage.
