Job Description/Specification:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Draftsman to join a mechanical workshop supporting turbomachinery and rotating equipment projects in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate mechanical drawings, assembly layouts, component detailing, repair drawings, and as-built documentation to support workshop fabrication, maintenance, and overhaul activities.
This role requires strong AutoCAD expertise, the ability to interpret engineering drawings and OEM manuals, and experience working in industrial workshop environments.
About This Role
As a Mechanical Draftsman, you will work closely with engineers, workshop supervisors, and maintenance teams to prepare technical drawings for manufacturing, repair, modification, and installation activities. You will ensure all drawings comply with engineering standards, project specifications, and workshop requirements while maintaining document accuracy and revision control.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Drafting
- Prepare accurate 2D mechanical drawings using AutoCAD.
- Develop assembly drawings, detailed component drawings, and fabrication layouts.
- Produce as-built drawings and update engineering documentation following project changes.
- Prepare detailed mechanical drawings for workshop manufacturing and maintenance activities.
Workshop Engineering Support
- Prepare repair drawings, modification sketches, and fabrication details for workshop execution.
- Support overhaul and refurbishment activities for turbomachinery and rotating equipment.
- Coordinate with engineers and workshop personnel to ensure drawing accuracy and practicality.
- Revise technical drawings based on engineering comments and site modifications.
Documentation & Quality
- Interpret mechanical engineering drawings, OEM manuals, and technical specifications.
- Maintain drawing revisions and document control procedures.
- Ensure all technical documentation complies with company standards and project requirements.
- Assist in preparing engineering documentation required for project completion.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Drafting, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Draftsman in a mechanical workshop or industrial environment.
- Valid Qatar ID (QID).
- Immediate availability is highly preferred.
