Job Description/Specification:


We are seeking an experienced Piping Inspector to support a major Independent Water and Power Plant (IWPP) project in Doha, Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting piping installation activities, ensuring compliance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), project specifications, quality standards, and applicable industry codes throughout the construction and commissioning phases.

Candidates must possess extensive inspection experience in both metallic piping systems and Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) piping, with strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures, testing, and project handover documentation.

About This Role

As a Piping Inspector, you will oversee piping installation quality, monitor welding and fit-up activities, verify materials, witness pressure testing, review test packs, manage inspection documentation, and support project completion through punch listing and final handover activities.

The position requires close coordination with construction, QA/QC, engineering, and commissioning teams to ensure all piping systems are installed safely, correctly, and in accordance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Piping Inspection

  • Conduct inspections of piping installation activities in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Verify piping materials, components, and documentation before installation.
  • Inspect piping fit-up, alignment, welding activities, and fabrication quality.
  • Monitor installation work to ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.

Quality Control & Testing

  • Witness pressure testing and hydrostatic testing activities.
  • Review test packs and verify completion of inspection requirements.
  • Ensure all inspection records and quality documentation are properly completed.
  • Participate in punch listing, mechanical completion, and project handover activities.

QA/QC Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports and quality records.
  • Review QA/QC documentation for completeness and compliance.
  • Monitor Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and verify corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with project teams to resolve quality issues promptly.

GRP & Metallic Piping Inspection

  • Inspect welded Carbon Steel and Alloy Steel piping systems.
  • Perform quality surveillance for GRP piping installation, including:
    • Lamination inspections
    • Joint bonding verification
    • Hydrotest witnessing
  • Ensure proper installation techniques and compliance with manufacturer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Piping Inspector.
  • Proven experience on process plants, desalination plants, water treatment facilities, or IWPP projects.
  • Valid Qatar ID (QID).
  • Immediate availability is highly preferred.

Mandatory Experience

Candidates must have practical inspection experience in both of the following:

Metallic Piping

  • Welded Carbon Steel piping
  • Alloy Steel piping
  • Fit-up inspections
  • Welding surveillance
  • Pressure testing

GRP Piping

  • Lamination inspection
  • Joint bonding inspection
  • Hydrotest witnessing
  • Installation quality verification

Preferred Certifications

The following certifications are considered an advantage:

  • API 570 – Piping Inspector
  • CSWIP
  • NDT Level II Certification
