Instrument Technician

Job Description/Specification:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting with repairs, adjustments, and ongoing preventative maintenance of equipment, buildings, systems, and machinery. This role requires hands-on technical skills across multiple disciplines and the ability to perform routine maintenance tasks while ensuring operational efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform repairs, adjustments, and preventative maintenance on equipment, machinery, and facilities.
• Assist with electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
• Work on components such as motors, pumps, valves, gauges, switches, and hydraulic systems.
• Support maintenance activities related to fuels, gasoline, diesel, and refrigeration systems.
• Build and maintain sheds and other outbuildings as required.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and recommend solutions.
• Maintain tools, measuring instruments, and equipment in proper working condition.
• Follow standard operating procedures and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Communicate maintenance issues clearly, providing explanations when necessary.

Qualifications & Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and hands-on experience.
• Basic working knowledge of maintenance procedures, tools, and equipment.

Skills & Competencies:

• Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
• Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems
• Basic carpentry, plumbing, and general repair skills
• Ability to use hand and power tools effectively
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to follow instructions and work under moderate supervision

Work Environment:

• Routine, hands-on work in maintenance and repair settings
• May require physical activity including lifting, climbing, and working with tools
• Work involves standard procedures with occasional need for independent judgment
