Job Description/Specification:
IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking an experienced Stewarding Team Leader to join its growing luxury and lifestyle hospitality team in Doha.
The role is responsible for supervising daily stewarding operations, maintaining the highest standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene, supporting the Food & Beverage operation, and ensuring all back-of-house areas comply with hotel, health, safety, and sanitation requirements.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a luxury or lifestyle hotel and demonstrate strong leadership, attention to detail, and operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Stewarding Operations
- Lead and participate in cleaning and sanitizing kitchens, equipment, and F&B areas.
- Supervise daily stewarding activities and allocate duties effectively during assigned shifts.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and ready before and during service.
- Oversee the cleaning, handling, and proper storage of kitchen linen, utensils, and equipment.
- Maintain clean, organized, hygienic, and inspection-ready back-of-house areas.
Hygiene, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with hotel hygiene, health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Enforce company procedures and applicable local health and safety regulations.
- Monitor waste collection and disposal in accordance with environmental and safety requirements.
- Ensure stewarding employees maintain excellent personal hygiene and grooming standards.
- Report equipment defects, safety concerns, and operational issues promptly.
Team Leadership & Cost Control
- Supervise, train, coach, and support stewarding team members.
- Conduct shift briefings in the absence of the Chief Steward.
- Communicate hotel activities, operational requirements, and daily priorities to the team.
- Monitor manpower, cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment usage.
- Support cost-control initiatives while maintaining required service and cleanliness standards.
- Promote teamwork and maintain positive employee morale.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous stewarding experience within a luxury or lifestyle hotel is preferred.
- Previous team-leading or supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene, sanitation, and stewarding operations.
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy hotel and F&B environment.
- Flexible approach to shifts and changing operational requirements.
- Strong commitment to cleanliness, safety, and hospitality standards.
