Job Description/Specification:
Qatar Aviation Services (QAS), part of the Qatar Airways Group, is seeking a professional and safety-focused Heavy Vehicle Driver – Passenger Transportation to support passenger transport and logistics operations at Hamad International Airport (HIA). This role is responsible for operating heavy and light passenger transport vehicles safely, ensuring efficient airside transportation services, and delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining the highest operational, safety, and security standards.
The ideal candidate will possess a valid heavy vehicle driving license, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced airport environment while ensuring the safe movement of passengers and staff.
About This Role
As a Heavy Vehicle Driver, you will operate passenger coaches, staff transport vehicles, and other assigned airport vehicles to facilitate passenger boarding, deboarding, and transportation between terminals and aircraft. You will conduct vehicle inspections, maintain operational records, assist passengers, and ensure compliance with airport driving regulations and Qatar Aviation Services operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities
🚌 Passenger Transportation Operations
- Operate heavy and light passenger transport vehicles within airport premises.
- Provide safe and efficient transportation for passengers, airport staff, and general aviation operations.
- Support boarding, deboarding, and passenger movement in accordance with operational schedules.
- Plan transportation requirements based on daily flight operations.
- Maintain high standards of customer service throughout every journey.
🚦 Vehicle Operations & Safety
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Ensure assigned vehicles remain clean, roadworthy, fueled, and properly maintained.
- Report vehicle defects, operational issues, and maintenance requirements promptly.
- Operate vehicles in compliance with Airport Vehicle Operator Regulations (AVORM), QAS Driving SOPs, and Health, Safety, and Security standards.
- Submit incident and accident reports when required.
🤝 Customer Service & Passenger Assistance
- Provide courteous assistance to passengers throughout their airport journey.
- Support passengers with reduced mobility (PRM), elderly travelers, pregnant passengers, wheelchair users, and passengers requiring special assistance.
- Assist with loading and unloading passenger baggage when required.
- Respond professionally to passenger inquiries and provide accurate travel-related information.
- Operate onboard passenger announcement systems where applicable.
📋 Documentation & Operational Support
- Maintain Driver Manifest Reports and transportation records accurately.
- Record operational data including flight numbers, boarding gates, coach allocation, aircraft information, and transportation timings.
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors, operations control, and airport stakeholders.
- Support shift operations and perform additional transportation duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's Degree holders are also encouraged to apply.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of relevant driving or transportation experience.
- Experience operating heavy passenger vehicles, airport buses, or commercial coaches is preferred.
- Previous airport or aviation ground handling experience is an advantage.
License Requirements
- Valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License from home country.
- Ability to obtain a Qatari Heavy Vehicle Driving License.
- Ability to obtain an Airport Vehicle Operator Permit (AVOP).
