Job Description/Specification:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Instrumentation Technician – Water Quality Monitoring to join our operations team in Qatar. This full-time position is ideal for experienced instrumentation professionals with expertise in water treatment plants, analytical instrumentation, and online water quality monitoring systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of water quality analyzers and associated instrumentation to ensure accurate monitoring and reliable operation of water treatment and distribution systems.
About This Role
As an Instrumentation Technician, you will maintain and service a wide range of online analytical instruments, perform routine calibrations, diagnose equipment faults, and support the continuous operation of water quality monitoring systems. Working closely with operations and maintenance teams, you will ensure compliance with operational standards, safety regulations, and water quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
🔧 Instrumentation Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water quality monitoring equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in analytical instruments and field instrumentation.
- Carry out repairs and replacement of faulty components to minimise equipment downtime.
- Ensure all instrumentation operates efficiently and accurately.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and service reports.
⚙️ Calibration & Testing
- Perform routine calibration of online and portable water quality analyzers.
- Verify instrument accuracy and ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Conduct functional testing following maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain calibration records and documentation.
- Recommend corrective actions when performance deviations are identified.
💧 Water Quality Monitoring Systems
- Install, maintain, and service online water quality analyzers.
- Maintain instruments measuring:
- pH
- Chlorine
- Conductivity
- Turbidity
- Other critical water quality parameters
- Perform routine inspections to ensure continuous and reliable monitoring.
- Support commissioning and performance verification of new analytical equipment.
🧪 Analytical Instrument Servicing
- Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments used in water treatment facilities.
- Service sampling systems, sensors, transmitters, probes, and associated instrumentation.
- Ensure instruments comply with manufacturer recommendations and operating procedures.
- Assist with spare parts identification and inventory management.
🛡️ Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow company health, safety, and environmental procedures during maintenance activities.
- Ensure safe isolation of equipment before servicing.
- Comply with water treatment industry regulations and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Report equipment failures, hazards, and maintenance observations promptly.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Proven experience working in water treatment plants or water quality monitoring systems.
- Experience maintaining and servicing analytical instruments and online analyzers.
- Hands-on experience using portable water quality testing equipment.
Preferred Skills
- Strong knowledge of water quality monitoring principles and instrumentation.
- Experience calibrating and maintaining online analyzers.
- Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and control system faults.
- Good technical documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team.
License
- Valid Qatar Driving License is preferred.
- GCC experience will be an added advantage.
