Job Description/Specification:
UBS is seeking an experienced Requirements Engineer to join its Trade & Transfer Assets – Receiving Services Post Trade team in Doha, Qatar. This full-time opportunity is ideal for professionals with expertise in business analysis, requirements engineering, regulatory tax reporting, and Agile software delivery within the banking or financial services industry.
As a Requirements Engineer, you will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technology teams by translating complex regulatory and business requirements into scalable software solutions. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality regulatory tax reporting solutions while ensuring compliance with international reporting standards and supporting continuous product improvement.
About This Role
As a Requirements Engineer, you will collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Teams, QA Engineers, and business stakeholders across global locations to analyse business needs, define functional and non-functional requirements, support software testing, and ensure successful delivery of regulatory reporting solutions. This role requires strong analytical skills, banking domain knowledge, and experience working within Agile environments.
Key Responsibilities
💻 Requirements Engineering & Business Analysis
- Gather, analyse, and document business and regulatory requirements.
- Translate stakeholder needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, and product backlogs.
- Conduct business process analysis and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Perform impact analysis for functional and non-functional requirements.
- Ensure business requirements align with regulatory compliance and business objectives.
🔄 Agile Delivery & Product Development
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, Scrum Masters, and cross-functional Agile teams.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Support iterative software development and continuous product enhancement.
- Ensure timely delivery of software features within agreed project timelines.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Agile delivery processes.
🧪 Testing & Quality Assurance
- Design, review, and validate test cases based on business requirements.
- Support functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Work closely with Quality Assurance teams to verify delivered solutions.
- Assist in automating new and existing test cases where applicable.
- Ensure solutions meet functional, technical, and regulatory requirements.
📊 Regulatory Reporting & Compliance
- Analyse regulatory reporting requirements and tax reporting obligations.
- Support solutions related to CRS, AEI, FATCA, CARF, and other international tax reporting standards.
- Ensure reporting processes comply with applicable financial regulations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement regulatory changes efficiently.
- Maintain documentation supporting regulatory compliance initiatives.
🤝 Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and development teams.
- Facilitate workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and solution discussions.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Coordinate with globally distributed teams to ensure project alignment.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across multiple locations.
📈 Process Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to optimise business processes and software workflows.
- Support solution evaluations and technical feasibility assessments.
- Explore responsible AI solutions to improve software delivery and operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with governance and risk standards.
- Promote best practices in requirements engineering, documentation, and software quality.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Business Information Systems, Finance, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Requirements Engineer, Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, or IT Consultant within the banking or financial services sector.
- Experience working in global banking environments with regulatory reporting projects.
- Strong experience with Agile software development methodologies.
- Experience designing and executing software testing activities.
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of CRS, AEI, FATCA, CARF, and regulatory tax reporting.
- Experience with business process modelling, UML, and use case development.
