UNESCO Regional Office for the Gulf States and Yemen is seeking a highly organized and proactive Project Associate to support the implementation of education sector initiatives under the Yemen System Capacity Grant (SCG). Based in Doha, Qatar, this 12-month Service Contract role focuses on strengthening education sector governance, coordination, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder engagement in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Yemen, development partners, and international organizations.

This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience in education, international development, project coordination, or humanitarian programmes who are passionate about improving education systems and supporting evidence-based policy and planning.

About This Role

As a Project Associate, you will provide technical, operational, and coordination support for education sector projects, facilitate collaboration among government and development partners, contribute to monitoring and reporting processes, and assist in implementing activities that strengthen education sector governance and accountability in Yemen.

Key Responsibilities

📋 Project Coordination & Implementation

  • Support the day-to-day implementation of education sector projects under the Yemen System Capacity Grant (SCG).
  • Assist in monitoring project workplans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate project activities with internal teams, government counterparts, and development partners.
  • Prepare project summaries, briefing notes, presentations, and technical reports.
  • Support communication and follow-up on project milestones and action plans.

🤝 Sector Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with the Ministry of Education, Local Education Group (LEG), Development Partners Group (DPG), donors, and education partners.
  • Organize meetings, consultations, workshops, and joint sector review activities.
  • Prepare agendas, meeting minutes, presentations, and follow-up action trackers.
  • Facilitate communication, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among key stakeholders.
  • Monitor progress against agreed sector priorities and recommendations.

📊 Monitoring, Reporting & Knowledge Management

  • Support education sector monitoring, reporting, and accountability processes.
  • Collect, review, and consolidate monitoring data and partner updates.
  • Maintain project documentation, records, and reporting systems.
  • Assist in preparing donor reports, progress updates, and implementation reports.
  • Contribute to knowledge management and documentation of project outcomes.

🌍 Field Missions & Operational Support

  • Participate in field missions, subject to operational and security requirements.
  • Provide logistical and coordination support during workshops, meetings, and field activities.
  • Assist with administrative and operational arrangements for project implementation.
  • Support mission reporting and follow-up activities.

🏛️ Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for project implementation.
  • Assist with procurement coordination and project documentation where required.
  • Maintain accurate project records and filing systems.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Project Manager and UNESCO management.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, International Development, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, education programmes, international development, humanitarian assistance, or related fields.
  • Experience supporting multi-stakeholder projects or donor-funded programmes is highly desirable.

  • Strong project coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Arabic.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, briefing notes, and project documentation.
