Job Description/Specification:
Qatar Fabrication Company (QFAB) is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance operations at its Ras Laffan facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Engineer, this role is responsible for supervising maintenance teams, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities, managing SAP PM work orders, and maintaining critical production, utility, lifting, transportation, and mobile plant equipment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in industrial maintenance, proven leadership experience, and a solid understanding of maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and asset reliability within heavy industrial or fabrication environments.
About This Role
As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will oversee maintenance foremen and technicians, execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities, manage SAP PM work orders, troubleshoot equipment failures, coordinate with production teams, and ensure compliance with QHSES standards while maximizing equipment availability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
🔧 Maintenance Operations
- Supervise the execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Lead maintenance foremen and technicians to ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with company procedures, engineering standards, and quality requirements.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend reliability improvements.
- Coordinate maintenance shutdowns and equipment availability with production teams.
⚙️ Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain fixed production equipment including CNC machines, PLC-controlled equipment, hydraulic systems, fabrication machinery, welding machines, blasting, and painting equipment.
- Oversee maintenance of portable equipment such as welding machines, grinders, chipping guns, torches, welding ovens, rollers, and manipulators.
- Supervise maintenance of mobile plant equipment including forklifts, MEWPs, generators, air compressors, cleaning machines, and material handling equipment.
- Ensure maintenance of mechanical utilities across workshops and yard facilities.
🏗️ Lifting & Transportation Equipment
- Supervise maintenance of lifting and transportation equipment including:
- Overhead cranes
- Portal JIB cranes
- Mobile cranes (All Terrain & Rough Terrain)
- Crawler cranes
- Shipyard transporters
- Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT)
- Maintain portable lifting equipment such as electric hoists, chain hoists, hydraulic jacks, pedestal jacks, and load cells.
📋 SAP PM & Work Order Management
- Execute maintenance activities in accordance with the SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM) system.
- Ensure accurate recording of labor hours, resources, equipment history, and maintenance activities.
- Monitor work order completion and documentation.
- Submit completed work orders, maintenance findings, and recommendations to the Maintenance Engineer.
- Raise spare parts and external service requests as required.
🛡️ Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Conduct Toolbox Talks (TBT) and work preparation briefings.
- Ensure compliance with Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), energy isolation, HIT Cards, and QHSES requirements.
- Promote safe working practices throughout maintenance activities.
- Ensure maintenance work complies with company safety policies and industry regulations.
🤝 Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and motivate maintenance teams.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to technicians and foremen.
- Allocate manpower and resources efficiently.
- Foster continuous improvement and teamwork within the maintenance department.
- Support workforce development through training and knowledge sharing.
🔍 Troubleshooting & Reliability
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system faults.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Engineer to implement permanent corrective actions.
- Support equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
📞 Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate closely with Production Supervisors to schedule maintenance windows.
- Coordinate equipment availability to minimize production downtime.
- Communicate maintenance observations and improvement recommendations to engineering teams.
- Support maintenance planning and shutdown activities.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Previous supervisory experience in maintenance operations is highly preferred.
- Experience within fabrication, oil & gas, heavy industry, shipyards, manufacturing, or industrial plants is an advantage.

- Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance practices.

- Excellent troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills.
