Job Description/Specification:
A leading Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Merchandiser to ensure optimal product visibility, availability, and presentation across retail outlets. This role is responsible for implementing merchandising standards, maintaining shelf displays, monitoring stock levels, supporting promotional activities, and ensuring compliance with company merchandising agreements.
The ideal candidate will have previous merchandising experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with retail partners while maintaining excellent execution standards.
About This Role
As a Merchandiser, you will manage product displays, maintain shelf availability, implement planograms, monitor pricing accuracy, conduct store inventories, and provide market feedback to support sales growth and brand visibility.
Key Responsibilities
🛒 Merchandising & Product Display
- Install and maintain point-of-sale (POS) materials in assigned retail outlets.
- Ensure all company products, pack sizes, and SKUs are consistently available on shelves.
- Implement merchandising planograms and maintain displays according to shelf rental agreements.
- Organize shelves to maximize product visibility and enhance customer shopping experience.
- Maintain attractive and well-stocked product displays at all times.
📦 Stock Management
- Monitor stock availability and replenish products as required.
- Remove damaged, expired, or dirty products from shelves and return defective items according to company procedures.
- Conduct regular shelf inspections to maintain product quality.
- Perform monthly inventory counts of POS materials and products.
💰 Pricing & Compliance
- Verify that shelf prices are accurate and updated.
- Conduct price checks ("price fishing") when required.
- Ensure merchandising activities comply with company standards and retailer agreements.
- Maintain proper documentation of merchandising activities.
📊 Reporting & Market Intelligence
- Report competitor activities, promotions, and market movements to the Merchandising Unit Head.
- Complete customer cards and merchandising reports accurately.
- Provide feedback on product availability, pricing, and display effectiveness.
- Support sales teams by identifying opportunities to improve in-store execution.
🤝 Collaboration & Customer Relations
- Work closely with the Merchandising Unit Head, Sales Representatives, and Sales Promotion teams.
- Build positive working relationships with retail store personnel.
- Support promotional campaigns and new product launches.
- Ensure excellent execution of in-store merchandising initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Minimum High School Diploma.
- Diploma in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field is an advantage.
Experience
- 1–2 years of experience as a Merchandiser or in a similar retail or FMCG role.
- Experience working with supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores, or retail chains is preferred.
