A leading engineering and industrial employer is seeking experienced Hydraulic Fitters to join its growing team. This role is responsible for assembling, installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in transportation equipment, heavy machinery, and agricultural equipment while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical fitting experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to interpret hydraulic schematics and technical drawings to deliver high-quality installations and repairs.

About This Role

As a Hydraulic Fitter, you will assemble and commission hydraulic and pneumatic systems, diagnose equipment faults, perform maintenance and repairs, and ensure reliable operation of mechanical and fluid power systems across a range of industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities

⚙️ Hydraulic & Pneumatic System Installation

  • Assemble and install hydraulic and pneumatic systems according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Install pneumatic control systems, actuators, air lines, regulators, valves, and associated components.
  • Assemble hydraulic hoses, tubing, and fittings to required standards.
  • Perform tube bending and hydraulic hose fabrication where required.

🔍 Testing, Commissioning & Troubleshooting

  • Conduct pressure testing and functional testing of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Commission newly installed equipment and verify system performance.
  • Diagnose hydraulic and pneumatic faults using testing equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective components to restore system functionality.

🛠️ Mechanical Maintenance

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
  • Inspect systems for wear, leaks, and operational issues.
  • Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, pneumatic diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Ensure all installations comply with engineering and quality standards.

🦺 Safety & Quality Compliance

  • Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures.
  • Maintain tools, testing equipment, and work areas in safe operating condition.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and inspection records accurately.
  • Support continuous improvement and quality assurance initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Fitting & Turning, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Hydraulic or Fluid Power certification is an advantage.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Hydraulic Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience assembling and installing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with transportation equipment, heavy machinery, industrial equipment, or agricultural machinery is preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
  • Experience with hydraulic hose assembly and tube bending.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience using hydraulic testing equipment, torque tools, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
