Mandarin Oriental Doha is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Purchasing Manager to support its Procurement and Materials Management team. This role is responsible for overseeing purchasing operations, supplier management, contract negotiations, inventory coordination, and cost control while ensuring the hotel receives the highest quality products at competitive prices.

The ideal candidate will have strong procurement expertise within a 5-star luxury hotel environment, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to optimize purchasing processes while maintaining compliance with company policies and quality standards.

About This Role

As an Assistant Purchasing Manager, you will assist in managing the hotel's procurement activities, supervise purchasing operations, negotiate supplier contracts, monitor inventory levels, and ensure timely procurement of goods and services to support hotel operations.

Key Responsibilities

🛒 Procurement & Purchasing

  • Assist in managing all hotel purchasing activities and procurement operations.
  • Source qualified suppliers and obtain competitive quotations.
  • Generate purchase orders and secure required approvals.
  • Ensure timely procurement of goods, services, FF&E, and CapEx items.
  • Maintain compliance with company procurement policies and quality standards.

🤝 Supplier & Contract Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms with vendors.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support contract negotiations and supplier sourcing initiatives.

📦 Inventory & Cost Control

  • Coordinate inventory planning with the Stores department.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels for all hotel departments.
  • Monitor purchasing costs and support cost control initiatives.
  • Verify that all received goods are properly documented and recorded.

👥 Team Leadership & Administration

  • Supervise, train, and motivate Purchasing Officers and Materials Management staff.
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day purchasing operations.
  • Collaborate with Finance and department heads on procurement requirements.
  • Prepare procurement reports and maintain purchasing records.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification in Procurement or Purchasing Management is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar purchasing or procurement management role within a 5-star hotel.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Cost Control.
  • Experience working with luxury hospitality brands is highly preferred.
