Job Description/Specification:
A leading offshore energy company is seeking an experienced Marine Operations Supervisor to oversee marine operations and ensure all offshore activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with international maritime standards. This offshore role follows a 28 days on / 28 days off rotational schedule and offers an excellent opportunity for experienced marine professionals to contribute to critical offshore operations.
The successful candidate will supervise vessel operations, marine assurance activities, contractor compliance, and operational safety while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across offshore marine operations.
About This Role
As a Marine Operations Supervisor, you will play a vital role in monitoring chartered vessels, marine crews, and offshore contractors to ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, company standards, and HSE requirements. You will conduct vessel assurance activities, support contract management, participate in incident investigations, and provide technical guidance to project teams operating in offshore environments.
This position requires extensive offshore marine experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple operational activities while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
🚢 Marine Operations
✅ Supervise offshore marine operations to ensure compliance with company procedures and international maritime regulations.
✅ Monitor chartered vessels, marine crews, and contractors throughout offshore operations.
✅ Support vessel mobilization, marine logistics, and offshore operational planning.
🛡️ Marine Assurance & Compliance
✅ Conduct vessel inspections, audits, and marine assurance activities.
✅ Ensure compliance with Classification Society, Flag State, and local maritime regulations.
✅ Monitor contractor performance and verify contractual compliance.
⚓ HSE & Risk Management
✅ Promote a strong safety culture and support incident-free operations.
✅ Participate in marine incident investigations and root cause analysis.
✅ Support environmental initiatives, including greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction strategies.
📋 Contract & Operational Support
✅ Support marine contract management and tender evaluations.
✅ Provide technical guidance to project teams on marine operational standards.
✅ Monitor operational performance and recommend process improvements.
🤝 Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination
✅ Collaborate with offshore teams, vessel owners, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
✅ Mentor junior personnel and support the development of local talent.
✅ Participate in industry forums and contribute to continuous operational improvements.
Minimum Requirements
🎓 Education
One of the following qualifications is required:
- Master Mariner Certificate
- Chief Engineer Certificate
- Marine Warranty Surveyor Qualification
- Merchant Navy Officer/Engineer Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a relevant marine discipline
💼 Experience
- Minimum 8 years of marine and offshore operations experience.
- At least 2 years in a senior marine leadership or supervisory role.
- Extensive experience supporting offshore oil and gas operations.
- Experience conducting marine assurance, vessel audits, and technical reporting.
- Strong knowledge of Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems and offshore vessel operations.
