Dishwashing & Sanitation: Wash, sanitize, and properly store all dishes, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils using both manual methods and commercial dishwashing machinery.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Regularly sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors, countertops, walls, and food preparation areas.
- Waste Management: Empty kitchen trash bins regularly, ensure proper waste segregation, and dispose of garbage according to municipality and café guidelines.
- Equipment Care: Safely operate and maintain dishwashing equipment, reporting any mechanical issues or chemical shortages to the Kitchen Supervisor or Chef.
- Inventory & Storage: Assist in receiving stock deliveries and safely organizing food ingredients and cleaning supplies in the designated storage areas.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Steward, Kitchen Porter, or Dishwasher in a high-volume café, restaurant, or hotel.
- Health & Safety Knowledge: Basic understanding of food hygiene, sanitation standards, and kitchen safety practices.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy loads (up to 20kg), and work efficiently in a fast-paced, hot kitchen environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
- Language: Basic conversational English to communicate effectively with the kitchen and service teams. Safety: Handle cleaning chemicals safely and correctly, utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Team Support: Assist the kitchen crew with basic prep work or cleaning duties during peak hours to ensure smooth café operations.
